Certainly not, of course (but I was right about the softraid
configuration in the last report, wasn't I?). ;-)

But I don't really know why this happens to your network card either. Is
the card OK after a "cold" reboot? I'm not sure whether the BIOS is
supposed to reset peripherals during a reboot or not, but it seems that
the card is not getting shutdown properly in Kernel 2.6.17-rc in any
case. Time for a kernel update again... *sigh*

I'm currently collecting bugs for the next release (make that "bugfixes").
