It's only a point of view. Usenet provides threaded discussions, which
is what mailing lists can emulate via email clients. I use my email
client mainly for businesses, so storing large amounts of data there
is far from ideal - I don't do it - whereas my newsreader can handled
things much, much better and has all sorts of specialised tools for
managing threaded discussions.
I only found this list via gmane, and it was only your comment that
alerted me to the fact that I posting on the wrong list. gmane
provides a Usenet interface to mailing lists, which is ideal, imo.

I presume then that the gmane knoppix list is dead. That would be a
great shame.
Personally, I think that you are losing a lot of interest and user
input by not having Usenet access to the list and, in addition, having
the list hidden away where it is. I would never have thought to go to
lists.debian.org. Just my tuppence worth.
