[debian-knoppix] Re: e100 vs eepro100

Please let me know the exact PCI IDs for which e100 works better
than eepro100. Or a patch to /usr/share/hwdata/pcitable.

Regards
-Klaus Knopper

here goes:

02:08.0 Ethernet controller:
Intel Corp. 82801BA/BAM/CA/CAM Ethernet Controller (rev 03)

02:08.0 Class 0200: 8086:2449 (rev 03)

FWIW, the adapter is being used in 10 Mbps Half duplex mode

Now I am curious: since for once we have a constructor-provided
OSS driver, why not reverse the logic and adopt e100 by default?
Is eepro likely to be as well maintained and tested as an intel-backed
driver, or merely favored by sheer habit?

Cheers,
