It would also be possible (and IMHO very helpful) to derive the timezone
from a properly configured DHCP server. The catch is that pump is
incapable of this; dhcp3-client is the only package I know of that can
handle it. This is 820k versus pump's 116k, and also might cause space
issues on the images served up by the terminal server.

However, such a change would allow far more than timezone detection.
Off the top of my head, the following could be determined:

- hostname
- an NTP server
- an SMTP smart host
- a default homepage
- an X display manager
- a server from which to retrieve knoppix.sh

Of course, most of these should be disabled by default, and perhaps some
are of little pratical value. Nevertheless, I feel a proper
implementation would be beneficial.

I've crudely hacked dhclient into my own remaster of Knoppix and
configured it to set the hostname. I'm willing to complete an
implementation if there is interest in integrating it into the main
distribution. Of course, a transistion to dhcp3-client probably isn't
justifiable if few would use such a feature.

Any feedback?
