There may be a misunderstanding. In Textmode, the font size is
determined by the screen resolution (that's why it is called
"textmode".  ;-)

In other words, if you want bigger fonts in textmode, you need to use a
lower screen resolution. You could boot with

knoppix vga=normal

to skip the usual 1024x768 framebuffer, or

fb800x600
(no "knoppix" here)

to set the resolution lower.
