[debian-knoppix] New DDC-probing tool for Knoppix for testing
Hello everyone,
I'm working on a new Monitor/Modelines detection tool for version 3.2.
In order to recognize TFT displays better, I modified ddcxinfo from the
kudzu package to generate a hopefully valid and optimized Monitor-entry
for XF86Config{-4,}.
If anybody would volunteer to try this out with his graphics
card/monitor combination, here are the packages:
http://hydra.linuxtag.uni-kl.de/~knopper/knoppix/ddcxinfo-knoppix_0.5-1_i386.deb (Executable)
http://hydra.linuxtag.uni-kl.de/~knopper/knoppix/ddcxinfo-knoppix_0.5-1.tar.gz (Sources)
There are also detached GPG signatures available.
I would be especially interested in reports for different monitors.
Maybe you could tell if the output of
ddcxinfo-knoppix -monitor
looks OK, and if
ddcxinfo-knoppix -modes
puts the "perfect" mode for a TFT display or monitor at the
beginning of the valid modes as it should be. You can use ddcprobe from the
kudzu-vesa package to get more information about your monitor (it uses the same
API, though).
No warranty. But if ddcxinfo hasn't fried your monitor in the past (all
Knoppix versions starting from 3.0 used it), it is likely that this
version will also work, and in the worst case it should just report more or less
healthy default values if the Monitor does not support DDC or reports insane modes.
Regards
