[debian-knoppix] Radeon 7500 PCI on AGP motherboard, even text is not right

(Brand new on the list. Sorry if I get things wrong.)

I've run into one problem with Knoppix on one of my three
machines. This machine's motherboard has an AGP slot, but
I'm using a PCI graphics card and no AGP graphics card.
The card is a Radeon 7500 (PCI).

With both Knoppix 3.2 and two releases of 3.3 (including
V3.3-2003-11-19-EN) there are display problems even with
runlevel 2 (text only, no X). For me, the highest priority
with this machine is text rather than X.

I booted with 'knoppix lang=us 2 noapm'. I seem to recall
having omitted the 'noapm' option at other times with no
change in behavior.

With text-only, the symptom is the Tux image in the upper
left remains locked on screen, and the text scrolls below
the image. However, the text tries to scroll as if it has
the whole screen to itself. I did 'man man | grep -n . | less',
and there is a gap of several lines between the bottom of
one screen and the top of what I can see of the next.

Should I file a bug report at this point, or should I do
some diagnosis or searching for answers before filing?

Thanks.
