[debian-knoppix] Mach 64 215CT problems
Thx for solution for copying CDrom to HDD.
Works, but I got stupid problem.
I use GFX card Mach64 215CT integrated.
And Knoppix 3.2 26/07 loaded from cdrom works great. XFree86 lockups
happens, but can be solved by SysRQ/SAK request, so system stay stable.
When I copied contents of /cdrom to /dev/hda2 partition, system boots
nice (Accessing ... on /dev/hda2), everything goes right, but:
When starting XFree86 (no parameters, as on cdrom version), it hungs.
When starting XF86_Mach64 (Old, 3.x version), X goes up, but after some
time hungs.
Only XF86_SVGA works well, but it has unusable performance. (Falling
back to vesa is not nice at all)
Anyone got such problems?
Is there a chance to have it corrected on 3.3? Any major changes in X
subsystem?
Or maybe new kernel have support for it?
And why XFree86 is compiled (as writes) for Linux .... [i586]
and XF86_* for Linux .... [i686]
What is the binary format of knoppix designed to? 586? Pentium? Pro?
And WHY behaviour of knoppix depends on /cdrom device?
Thx in advance.
