[debian-knoppix] hwsetup on woody

Hi all,

I've been working on a debian based distro that i'd like to
autoconfigure just about all the hardware. I've gotten hwsetup
installed and working...sort of. The problem is, hwsetup only completes
without error after complete system boot (as in, i log in and run it).
When I run it during /etc/rcS/ it either "completes" in about 2 seconds,
failing to find any hardware at all (the bar gets about #### <-that
long), OR if i probe a little bit later it will be broken up with failed
mod probes for things such as /dev/modem, /dev/fd* /dev/cdrom*, etc.
Anyone know whats going on here? More importantly, what MUST be done in
the boot process before hwsetup can run properly?

Thanks

--Travis
