[debian-knoppix] howto compile 2.5?

Hi, I am hoping to modify a knoppix cd to have kernel 2.5 so I can test
a laptop with a centrino chip in the shop before I part with my money.

I am hoping to find a kernel 'config' file for the kernel 2.4 somewhere
and to use that as a basis for a 2.5 make xconfig.

Are there any directions /howtos/gotchas that might help please?
