NordisKnoppix has an extra debian package installed, ttf-freefont,
that together with some font-replacement magic solves this problem.
When booting in Latvian, Lithuanian, or Russian, the openoffice
configuration file Common.xml is patched with

http://files.akl.lt/knoppix/sources/openoffice-ttf-freefont.patch

For other languages, the patch is not applied.
