Re: [debian-knoppix] Software recommendations for LinuxTag DVD edition?
- putty
A lot of people are used to Putty.
This brings up a general concept.
Is this not a very useful concept....not only impressed by the 'thing',
immediately some free software is delivered and one more welcomed to the
free world irrespective of the OS.
Imagine a pre-configured SAMBA share
with the top 5 tools a Windows box should have to interface with a Linux
box.
Why first launch a Samba Server, and not just putting the tools on a
separate directory on the DVD, that can be read under Windows?
[...]
What about a "Windows" directory on the DVD that contains Free Software
for Windows users as well?
So I take it Windows executables can be delivered via a DVD / CD. No
filesystem problems.
It could contain your aforementioned tools,
plus maybe Apache, OpenOffice or other OpenSource software that is
also available for Windows.
why not the whole of <http://gnuwin.epfl.ch/> :-)
We have to archive the sources for these software packages for 3 years,
following the GPL, though, so source availability is a MUST.
If GNU Win is mentioned as the source then this requirement/pain is
fullfilled . Or is it not?

Ramanan
