For sure what I did was just a study enabling me to change and add some
stuff without disturbing debootstrap.

I'm not really sure whether I understand you right here.  The bootstrap
process does not start anything because it does not chroot into the
knoppix dir.  Do you mean that you might end up with two MTAs once
you chrooted into the knoppix dir and try to apt-get install some stuff?

This would be necessary for sure.
In my opinion this is one step into the direction to take workload from
Klaus.
