[debian-knoppix] PS/2 mouse problem

Hi all folks,

My PS/2 mouse (3 button wheel mouse) could not be detected by Knoppix 
3.1.  Its pointer hands in the
middle of the screen without response.

I tried followings
1) At boot :  type
a.   knoppix pci=irqmask=0x0e98  [(zero)x(zero)e98]

b.   knoppix wheelmouse

2) At boot pressing F2     type
a.   knoppix pci=irqmask=0x0e98  [(zero)x(zero)e98]

b.   knoppix wheelmouse

Problem still remains unsolved.

There will be no way to update the BIOS because it is a 4 year-old PC

Any advice.  Thanks in advance.

(Remark:  The PS/2 mouse has been tested without problem.  An USB mouse works)
