The procedure is the same as with a normal kernel compilation. You need
to exchange the modules on the bootfloppy rootimage with your own, and
recompile cloop.

Well, just copy /usr/src/linux/.config from your current Knoppix CD.

Standard 2.4.18 plus the SGI xfs patch (which is not necessary, but
some people kept asking for it).

I plan to try the wolk kernel some time.

It is a normal initrd file, compressed with gzip.
