[debian-knoppix] How to compile your own kernel?

Is there a quick summary on how to compile a kernel for a knoppix boot 
floppy?

Can you please provide the linux/.config file used to compile the kernel?

Are you using a standard Linux kernel, or do you apply knoppix specific 
patches?

What about the miniroot.gz file, is that a initrd file created with 
mkinitrd, compressed with gzip, or does it contain more?
