Re: [debian-knoppix] French translation of knoppix web site / suggestions for next version
Hello Florent,
Sorry for not being able to answer your two mails to my knopper.net
address yet. As you may have guessed, there are quite of lot of mails in
my yet-to-answer pile.

I think we already have a french translation of the FAQ, it should be on
the CD and on the mirrors.
ftp://ftp.uni-kl.de/pub/linux/knoppix/KNOPPIX-FAQ-FR.txt
But thanks for the offer.
About the translated webpage: Could you please add a statement
concerning the use and distribution license of your translation? I would
prefer linking to an external page for the french page (for example, to
your own website) rather than having to maintain different languages
on my own website. Currently, I only generate the english and german
version with WML, all other pages are external.

This is not so easy. It depends on the package maintainers, where the
menu entries are present. I don't think it makes sense to reorder all
those programs in every new release.

Personally, I son't like all those lollypop-colors much. I would rather
stick with the default themes as long as possible. When KDE 3.1 will be
released in January or so, I will just adopt the default theme for this
one, too.
Also, there are space considerations. With 0 Bytes free on the CD, what
should I delete in order to free space for another desktop theme?

I forward this to Christian Perle, who is the author of knx-hdinstall. I
leave those changes to him. For me, Harddisk installation is not the top
priority of Knoppix. ;-)

xmms was supposed to be the all-in-one multimedia center, though xine
is better for DVDs at the moment. Again, I have to consider that there
is no spare space on the CD, so everything new will result in the
deinstallation of something else.

The default is set to "testing" in /etc/apt/apt.conf, so there is no
problem with the "experimental" deb sources. I need some of them.

You may have to copy a /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 that was generated with the
"wheelmouse" option, to your harddisk installation.

Unfortunately, this forum (YaBB) does not seem to support user level language
customization for the layout. :-(
