Everyone,
I am surprised this group has responded to my Reddit post. I am the OP who found this issue of he character © covering the entire virtual consoles from Ctrl-Alt F2 to F6 and F8 to F12. It first came to my attention whenever I boot up, the last screen before the desktop is a screen full of ©'s. And whenever I shutdown, the first screen is again the character © covering all of the output of the shutdown. Fortunately this issue has not affected my normal computing habits. The Debian 11 OS seems to run OK on this stock Dell Inspiron 620. I will follow this thread to see if this could be resolved.
