Package: src:linux Version: 6.12.38-1 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? I am an artist using digital graphic tablet and I need a program called udev-hid-bpf to configure my tablet pen. To use this tool there needs to be HID-BPF support enabled in the kernel. This is missing in the default kernel. I would have to use liquorix or some other kernel but those give other issues such as wifi not working etc. So I request you to please enable support for HID-BPF support in the kernel. Many artists who are using linux will need this support enabled. You can read more about this on the blog post from David Revoy here - https://www.davidrevoy.com/article1053/xppen-artist-pro-19-gen-2-review-on-gnulinux#fix-unwanted-eraser-mode-on-stylus * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I tried to report this issue to the udev-hid-bpf developers and they were the ones who told me that debian doesn't have this support. You can read the bug report here - https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/libevdev/udev-hid-bpf/-/issues/70#note_3046884 * What outcome did you expect instead? HID-BPF support to be enabled by default in the kernel -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 6.12.38+deb13-amd64 (debian-kernel@lists.debian.org) (x86_64-linux-gnu-gcc-14 (Debian 14.2.0-19) 14.2.0, GNU ld (GNU Binutils for Debian) 2.44) #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.12.38-1 (2025-07-16) ** Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/root00/boot/vmlinuz-6.12.38+deb13-amd64 root=UUID=6384d705-968c-402d-b137-240e03d2f791 ro rootflags=subvol=root00 quiet splash ** Not tainted ** Kernel log: [ 4.102252] snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC1D0: hp_outs=1 (0x1b/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0) [ 4.102254] snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC1D0: mono: mono_out=0x0 [ 4.102255] snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC1D0: dig-out=0x1e/0x0 [ 4.102256] snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC1D0: inputs: [ 4.102257] snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC1D0: Rear Mic=0x18 [ 4.102259] snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC1D0: Front Mic=0x19 [ 4.102260] snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC1D0: Line=0x1a [ 4.205399] input: HDA Digital PCBeep as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.3/sound/card1/input13 [ 4.205431] input: HDA Intel PCH Rear Mic as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.3/sound/card1/input14 [ 4.205456] input: HDA Intel PCH Front Mic as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.3/sound/card1/input15 [ 4.205473] input: HDA Intel PCH Line as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.3/sound/card1/input16 [ 4.205491] input: HDA Intel PCH Line Out Front as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.3/sound/card1/input17 [ 4.205505] input: HDA Intel PCH Line Out Surround as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.3/sound/card1/input18 [ 4.205529] input: HDA Intel PCH Line Out CLFE as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.3/sound/card1/input19 [ 4.205552] input: HDA Intel PCH Front Headphone as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.3/sound/card1/input20 [ 4.205568] input: HDA Intel PCH HDMI/DP,pcm=3 as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.3/sound/card1/input21 [ 4.205593] input: HDA Intel PCH HDMI/DP,pcm=7 as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.3/sound/card1/input22 [ 4.205609] input: HDA Intel PCH HDMI/DP,pcm=8 as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.3/sound/card1/input23 [ 4.205626] input: HDA Intel PCH HDMI/DP,pcm=9 as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.3/sound/card1/input24 [ 4.368578] iwlwifi 0000:00:14.3: WFPM_UMAC_PD_NOTIFICATION: 0x20 [ 4.368609] iwlwifi 0000:00:14.3: WFPM_LMAC2_PD_NOTIFICATION: 0x1f [ 4.368618] iwlwifi 0000:00:14.3: WFPM_AUTH_KEY_0: 0x90 [ 4.368626] iwlwifi 0000:00:14.3: CNVI_SCU_SEQ_DATA_DW9: 0x0 [ 4.368697] iwlwifi 0000:00:14.3: Detected RF GF, rfid=0x2010d000 [ 4.369774] iwlwifi 0000:00:14.3: RFIm is deactivated, reason = 5 [ 4.371318] iwlwifi 0000:00:14.3: loaded PNVM version 581d4936 [ 4.457096] iwlwifi 0000:00:14.3: base HW address: 2c:0d:a7:36:9a:89 [ 4.510956] intel_rapl_msr: PL4 support detected.
