Package: src
Version: 3.2.21-3
Severity: critical
Justification: causes serious data loss

While writing this bug report, my machine froze because i tried to mount a sd-
card via a usb-card reader, connected to a usb2.0-pci-card.

Always when i try to mount my mobile phone (Nokia 500) or my mp3-stick
(trexstore organic) or just the naked sd-card via card-reader, I open up
Dolphin and click on the appearing sd-card-entry. Then Dolphin tries to mount
the card. But no luck: Sometimes it tries to mount it and for a brief moment
its beginning to show the folders and subfolders. But then it vanishes aprupt
and the card gets unmounted.
The system immediately tries to remount it, but this fails in 90% of cases. In
the 10% remaining cases, it gets remounted, but only in very slow USB1.0 mode.
And still it does not transfer the data completely.

This bug affects also some machine of friends, one with a medion MD6200.

Also portable 2,5inch hard drives are affected. It seems any device which gets
its power from the USB-port has these problems.

Needles to say: On both machines no problem under XP or CentOS6

Filesystems need check after remount

Hi

This bug was filed for a very old kernel or the bug is old itself
without resolution.

If you can reproduce it with

- the current version in unstable/testing
- the latest kernel from backports

please reopen the bug, see https://www.debian.org/Bugs/server-control
for details.

Regards,
Salvatore
