Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I installed Debian testing on my 5 year old HP laptop. I did a minimal installation using the net install iso, then upgraded to testing, and installed GNOME desktop. Everything works fine except suspending on lid close. When I close the lid, the system is still working and becomes very hot. However, I am able to suspend the system from the GNOME menu.

I also tried Ubuntu 16.04 which ships with kernel 4.4, and it has the same problem. Kernel 4.2 works just fine with suspend on this machine, as is the case of Ubuntu 15.10.

Hi

This bug was filed for a very old kernel or the bug is old itself
without resolution.

If you can reproduce it with

- the current version in unstable/testing
- the latest kernel from backports

please reopen the bug, see https://www.debian.org/Bugs/server-control
for details.

Regards,
Salvatore
