Package: src:linux
Version: 3.16.7-ckt9-3~deb8u1
Severity: normal

I have a freshly install debian jessie where systemd-udev-settle accounts for a
very long bootup time:

systemd-analyze blame:
         56.397s systemd-udev-settle.service
          2.735s postfix.service
           482ms NetworkManager.service
        ...

We have discussed this on the debian user mailinglist https://lists.debian.org
/debian-user/2015/04/msg01575.html

With the help of the list I was able to debug the issue. It is related to my
keyboard which happens to have a sound module included. Somehow the sound
detection during boot can not handle that and gets stuck for along time.

journalctl says:

#### last 2 message where everything is still ok

Apr 30 07:28:01 xxx systemd-udevd[175]: seq 1601 queued, 'add' 'input'
Apr 30 07:28:01 xxx systemd-udevd[175]: seq 1602 queued, 'add' 'input'

#### several seconds no progress but thousands of udev messages which I can not
see

#### and than:

Apr 30 07:28:50 xxx systemd-udevd[175]: seq 1604 queued, 'add' 'sound'

####

The keyboard has a USB 2.0 hub and a snd module with mic and headphone
connectors. I dont know if the sound module was ever working. Never used it for
the last couple of years.

I can fix the boot problem by blacklisting snd-usb-audio. But that just seems
to be a workaround. It was suggested on the mailing list that this might be a
kernel bug. So here it is for you to investigate.
