Wrong battery status with linux-image-5.4.0-0.bpo.4-amd64
Dear maintainers,
i'm using the backports kernel with debian 10 buster (with LXDE) on an Asus eeePC because there was a problem with the battery status with the stable kernel 4.19 (described on https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=204303).
All works fine until i installed the new version linux-image-5.4.0-0.bpo.4-amd64. Now i have the following problem:
- When the laptop is in ac mode and i replace the battery (i have two) and go back to battery mode (disconnect power cable), the battery monitor icon in the LXDE panel shows wrong discharging time an wrong capacity (0). For example 0% charged, remaining time 44 hours (battery was nearly full). Normally it shows also the "full"-capacity, these line is then lost.
- Switching back to battery mode or ac mode doesnt fix the problem.
- After a complete reboot all is fine until the described procedure.
- The problem is new in linux-image-5.4.0-0.bpo.4-amd64. With linux-image-5.4.0-0.bpo.3-amd64 all works fine.
In the changelog for the new kernel i found some changes that could possible the cause:
- ACPI / battery: Deal with design or full capacity being reported as -1
- ACPI / battery: Use design-cap for capacity calculations if full-cap is not available
- ACPI / battery: Deal better with neither design nor full capacity not being reported
