Bug#872149: linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd64: VM dmesg reports repeated hung tasks, call trace begins "jbd2_log_wait_commit"

Package: src:linux
Version: 3.16.43-2+deb8u2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

We're running a puppet VM in KVM. After migrating to Jessie it has started to have
hung ruby processes (puppet written in ruby). (dmesg below) The machine is quite active and are
other VMs running the kernel version have not encountered this problem. We've run this VM on
different host machines with no change therefore we suspect not an underlying hardware problem.

The VM host 'uname -a'
Linux vmhost18.hep.wisc.edu 3.16.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.16.43-2+deb8u2 (2017-06-26) x86_64 GNU/Linux

The puppet VM:
Linux puppet 3.16.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.16.43-2+deb8u2 (2017-06-26) x86_64 GNU/Linux

Below is the call trace of the first occurrence in dmesg. It takes some time to trigger, though the
VM is busy all the time. Once triggered, it seems to happen more often.

I'm planning to revert to older 3.16 to see if that changes anything.

Thanks for your time!
C.
