Once the new ABI reaches unstable, d-i can be patched to use it instead of the
old one. That's a one-liner patch. In case udebs are modified we might need to
also update a few lists accordingly, but as usual that can be done proactively
if the kernel team tells us that this or that udeb is getting dropped or added.

Having people around to test d-i daily builds until the kernel reaches testing
would be nice, so that we don't wait until the d-i upload (and maybe d-i image
builds) using testing's kernel to get some feedback.
