The kernel can't possibly detect a device that is not, in some sense,
connected to the PC.  The Unifying Receiver seems to forward
information from the wireless devices that have been associated with
it, as if they are USB devices.  If it remembers and imitates a device
that has since been reassigned to another receiver, there is probably
nothing Linux can to do to detect that.

I think you should take this up with Logitech technical support.
