It seems that my solution was not complete, I also have to add the parameter 'model=vaio' to the module options line, so the correct one for me in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf is this: options snd-hda-intel model=vaio position_fix=1 Once again, hope this helps someone in the same situation as me.
