Dear Maintainer,

I have got the following message at various points: E: linux-
image-3.2.0-4-amd64: subprocess installed post-installation script returned
error exit status 2
E: initramfs-tools: subprocess installed post-installation script returned
error exit status 1
I am running wheezy, installed from the liveCD, on a samsung RV520 laptop.
It happens mostly when trying to do stuff using apt/apt-get/synaptic etc.
It seems to sometimes stop it happening, although I'm not sure what it stops
happening.

You can re-create it by running (as root):

    mkdir -m 1777 /var/tmp

I'm closing your bug report because initramfs-tools is correct to assume
that the directory exists. Really, the report should be assigned to
whatever removed the directory, but we don't know what that is.
