Correct.  I was simply upgrading and not seeing a usable vt console
screen after the upgrade.  It was a 60/40 snow/white unusable display.
If it had worked then I would have stopped there.  Worse is that it
was working and usable in Squeeze but after upgrading to Wheezy there
was no usable console.

I am currently recreating the Squeeze installation and then will
recreate the upgrade to Wheezy.  Then will later try a pristine Wheezy
installation.  I will try to narrow down the issue more precisely.
