/var/log/dpkg.log.1 et al might go back further.

Maybe "lspci -vvnn" output (as an attachment) and "dmesg" output from
booting if you have it could help to pin down the setup a little more.
(If I understand correctly, Meenakshi is dreaming of a reliable
reproduction recipe. ;-))
