Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.32-30
Severity: important

Hello,

using 2.6.32-5 kernel (debian/testing) couses my xeon x3430 to crash at bootup hanging on various unpredictable modules,
additionally if it randomly boots fine it crashes while running after unpredictable time,
hanging again on unpredictable module and creating kerneloops.

Using the old kernel 2.6.26-2 the system runs stable, but has no ext4 support.

Disabling and enabling Turbo Mode in BIOS makes no differences.

Thank you a lot

Sincereley,

Adrian

Ah, that's good to hear. Marking accordingly.

I assume that includes the kernel in squeeze-proposed-updates
(2.6.32-41)? It would be nice to get that fixed, too, so the
following would be helpful if you have time to acquire them:

 - full "dmesg" output from booting an affected and unaffected kernel.
(If affected kernels are too unstable to boot and enter a shell,
you can probably get this with netconsole[1] or a serial
   console[2].)

 - a narrower range to search for the fix. E.g., testing 2.6.39 from
http://snapshot.debian.org/ to see if it is affected would be
   interesting.

 - any other weird observations?

Anyway, I'm glad to see your setup is working and you are able to use
more than one core now. Thanks for the update.

Ciao,
Jonathan
