This most certainly is not a meaningless check.

I don't know, but that's not the point.  The Debian kernel team cannot
support OpenVZ on its own, and it doesn't get much help from OpenVZ
developers.  (They did say they would support OpenVZ on Linux 2.6.32,
but have already stopped doing so.)

Looking at the OpenVZ patch for the RHEL 6 kernel (which is what
Parallels is selling), I see that ext4 has been added to the accepted
list and doesn't require special handling.  So I think we could add it
in Debian.
