Hi Ben, ael,

I am reading this on my phone and will not be able to look into this properly (ie access a computer) before next week.

In the mean time: strace logs would be very useful. And maybe the problen has to do with the new driver doing real handshaking while the old one effectively ignored hs signals iirc.
