Bug#637284: Can't install wheezy on a 2011 iMac

Hi again Jonathan,

Ummm... Mac keyboards don't have scroll lock!

It seems that scroll lock is shift+f14.

Nope, that has no effect whatsoever.

Yes, single WAS there!! Let me double-check...

yes, what I said was what happened. Both single and quiet were there. The
actual line printed was

Starting GNOME Display Manager: gdm3

Weird. I have no idea what happened there.

Right. Running again with "quiet" off, once it starts rapidly flashing messages without progressing, I was able to read these lines:

usb 2-1.4: usbfs: interface 2 claimed by usb-storage while 'usb' sets config #1

usb 2-1.4: usbfs: process 2008(usb) did not claim interface 0 before use

I have no idea what these lines mean. The other flashing lines releated to eth0, but I didn't copy them down.

There should be entries from "recovery mode" in the boot menu, too,
with similar effect. Maybe that's worth a try. :/
.

I don't know that I want to try any more -- I seem to be getting nowhere. I think it might need someone who really understands the Debian boot process to get their hands on a new iMac and sort this whole thing out. There are plenty of them around by now. I've got a lot of other things on my plate and this isn't a high priority for me.

Cheers, Mike.
