What kernel version do you use?  Do you still have to blacklist the
radeon module to get as far as you do in booting up?

The other problem you mentioned (/sbin/getty not starting) is not yet
phrased as a kernel bug, so I'm not sure how to move forward on
tracking it down.  Is it possible to retrieve logs (like
/var/log/kern.log, /var/log/syslog, and /var/log/installer) from the
system that fails to boot?
