I'm afraid I don't know much about interrupt routing so I don't think I
can get useful information out of it.

I see that you also wrote to LKML and that you found an older message
about this problem by Andrew Morton.  If you want to get his attention
you should really cc him rather than just invoking him!

All the dependencies of linux-base are available in lenny; see
<http://packages.debian.org/lenny-backports/linux-base>.
