I just noticed this bug report, and couldn't let be commenting...
I believe "buried in ddp.c" is a little unprecise. ddp.c implements the
EtherTalk Link Access Protocol (ELAP). See the header of
net/appletalk/ddp.c:
* DDP: An implementation of the AppleTalk DDP protocol for
* Ethernet 'ELAP'.
If you want to run AppleTalk on Token Ring, then you need an
implementation of the TokenTalk Link Access Protocol (TLAP). See e.g.

My guess is that you'd have to write that yourself. I would be
surprised if there was a high demand...
