I don't really use the Live Images so am not sure what kernel they use and how they generate the initrd image. But, going by what you've mentioned, if you feel that this bug has affects elsewhere (like breaking Debian Live), please feel free to re-open this bug and increase the severity. But the challenge is is that they'll need a fix. I myself don't know the whole story, so don't know what the appropriate fix would be. Manoj pointed to those example scripts, so probably his pointing means that the current behavior would remain as the default behavior. BTW, does copying the example scripts solve the problem ?
