But if I remove both obsolete sha1sum files, and run 'update-initramfs
-u -k all' afterwards it indeed picks initrd-2.6.24-4-amd64-resivo,
which is from my current kernel. It still doesn't actually update it due
to the initrd being altered, but at least it recognizes it.

All my installed kernel images have been built from linux-source-2.6.2[34]
with make-kpkg from kernel-package. As far as i know the initrds were
created by mkinitramfs at postinst script of the kernel packages.
