I reported in this bug that with 'video=uvesafb:1024x768-32, mtrr:3, ypan' in the kernel cmdline and v86d installed in Sid, nothing happens.

  1. That kernel cmdline entry won't do anything anyway because uvesafb is loaded as a module.
  2. Evgeni Golov the maintainer of v86d has been very helpful and as of the moment had me rebuild v86d without the use-external-libx86.patch and rules changed to .configure --with-x86emu.
  3. No entry in /etc/initramfs-tools/modules for uvesafb
  4. An entry in /etc/modules of uvesafb mode=1024x768-32
That brings up fb after starting out in VGA 80x25 mode for a few entries.
