Feature request: r8168 ethernet driver

After upgrading kernel from 2.6.24 to 2.6.25 my ethernet was not recognized. A
real show-stopper, scared me a bit!

On 2.6.24 my internal ethernetport was always recognized and module r8169 used
to be loaded at boot. I found this driver to be unstable with my internal
card. With the help an Ubuntu-patch (r8168-8.005.00.hardy.diff.txt) I
compiled the r8168-8.005.00.tar.bz2 and got rock-solid ethernet.

After my last aptitude full-upgrade, witch included kernel 2.6.25, my ethx was
suddenly invisible. I solved the problem by modprobe r8169 to get my card
working, then ifconfig, and finally install the new kernel headers, and
compiling r8168 as before.

Why isn't r8168 included in the 2.6.25-kernel? Why didn't any modules for my
ethx load on my machine after the upgrade?
