Anyway, I wanted to add two things:

  - mbcache module is also built-in, which I forgot to mention.

  - I've built armel / versatile D-I and put it at:

      http://people.debian.org/~rmh/d-i/versatile/netboot/

    the initrd.gz will eventually get out of sync, but not the linux image
    (because of this bug).  Aurelien, does this address your concern wrt
    removing the extra modules from kernel image?


Basically yes, but I would prefer to see it fully integrated in d-i first. Currently the modules for this kernel are not available, so removing ext3 and network from the kernel will break this image.
