no there is no such agreement,
none of the valid arguments have been yet countered.
app and lib firewire maintainer have still enough time until Lenny
release to work with upstream to get the support of the firewire
stack right.
to help their testing latest 2.6.24-rc6 debian snapshot have
the latest upstream git firewire fixes, see trunk apt lines
