Bug#422922: interacts badly with gdm init script

Package: usplash
Version: 0.4-43-2
Severity: normal

gdm's init script starts it at rc2.d/S30gdm. This is before
rc2.d/S98usplash stops usplash. So on my system, I see the following
behavior:

gdm starts, which turns the screen black. As mentioned in the other bug
report, at least on my system, X fails to get to a usable graphics mode
if usplash is currently running. (Maybe I should file a separate bug
about that?)

After a while (couple minutes), the system finishes booting, usplash's
init script runs and stops usplash. This causes the system to switch
back to the VT that was active before usplash started, so it jumps back
to vt1, and the screen comes on and I get a text login prompt.

gdm is running over in vt 7, but I have to manually switch back there to
log into X.

Hardly a smooth graphical bootup process. :-P
