It is missing on my system after installing this package.

I installed this package as follows:

apt-get install  linux-headers-2.6.18-4-k7

Output:

BUT it is missing on my system after installing:

angel4-Etch:/usr/src# ls linux-headers-2.6.18-4/include/linux/version.h
ls: linux-headers-2.6.18-4/include/linux/version.h: No such file or directory
I was able to successfully workaround by extracting the missing file directly from the deb.

You are confused. /usr/src/linux-header-2.6.18-4 exists nowhere.

linux-headers-2.6.18-4-k7 or linux-headers-2.6.18-4? The later is a
subset and never used directly.
