Package: kernel-image-2.6.8-2-386
Version: 2.6.8-16sarge1
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

some modules such as the spca5xx for some webcams have problems with the
current generic kernel-image-2.6.8:
I was able to compile from tarball 20060501 at http://mxhaard.free.fr/
but it doesn't work. There is a patch but if I'd like to install a
recent version of spca, I need a kern higher than 2.6.11.
On the other hand there is now gspcav1 but the minimal kernel
requiremetns are higher than 2.6.8:

it would be nice publishing asap a new kernel-image for the Sarge, since
my wife and some friends prefer continuing using it for its stability.

backports.org has much newer linux images ready for sarge.
please consider asking support on a debian user mailinglist
for the next time.

closing,
as current efforts are on etch and sarge kernel is updated
for security fixes.
