As you can see from the update log below, initramfs-tools fails to update an 
initrd that was created only just before. How can it have been altered?

This may be an S/390 specific problem. Please let me know what additional 
information you need.

 Hmm. The package shipped with a symbolic 
link /lib/modules/2.6.18-4-s390/source
 However, I can not read the target: No such file or directory
 Therefore, I am deleting /lib/modules/2.6.18-4-s390/source

Running depmod.
Finding valid ramdisk creators.
Using mkinitramfs to build the ramdisk.
You already have a ZIPL configuration in /etc/zipl.conf
Running boot loader as requested
Running /sbin/zipl  ...
Installation successful.

Hmmmmmmm. Looks like this is yet another case of outdated value for 
ramdisk in /etc/kernel-img.conf. I'll check where this came from, but it 
is possibly a leftover from old testing by me.
