Package: udev
Version: 0.100-2.3
Severity: important
Hi,
something inside the udev package seems to do weird things with my
serial port. Symptom: ttyS0 not accessible once udev has been started.
Attempts to access ttyS0 result in EIO and kernel logging "ttyS0: LSR
safety check engaged!".
Way to pin this down on debug: Strip down run level 5 to the bare
minimum of services needed to successfully boot (including a disabled
udev) and log in to the system. Try to use ttyS0, succeed. Invoke
/etc/init.d/udev start, see udev load a truckload of kernel modules,
try to use ttyS0, see "LSR safety check engaged!" error message.
Before and after udev invocation, /dev/ttyS0 seems to be
crw-rw---- 1 root dialout 4, 64 Nov 21 2006 /dev/ttyS0
I suspect an issue with the kernel modules being loaded. Please advise
how to debug this.
Greetings
Marc

Thanks for trying to help, guys. I love you.
