Bug#394200: kernel freezes (no panic), seems related to acpid

It does this even if I don't start acpid. ps still shows kacpid.

If I pass acpi=off to the kernel, I cannot seem to reproduce the
problem.

So it seems to be ACPI-related. However, the X40 is known to work
just fine, and I've seen this on three different motherboards.

The only thing that has not changed in this machine is the display.
Do you think that it (not the graphics card) could be responsible
for all this?
