Bug#394200: kernel freezes (no panic), seems related to acpid

Believe it or not, I managed to make it freeze with 2.6.16
yesterday, after filing this bug. Argh!

Anyway, I am focusing on acpid now. If I do not start acpid, the
system appears to be fine.

If, of course, I start acpid as a child of strace (by telling the
init.d script to start a shell script in the background instead,
which then calls strace -ff and pipes to output via UDP to another
machine), it also starts fine. Heisenbug. Joy.
